Chip Ervin - How to DJ On A Budget

Chip Ervin has been a DJ since the age of fourteen, when he established himself as DJ Chip Hop at Super Skate. He eventually moved onto the underground rave scene, spinning discs with the likes of Evol Intent and Knick Bro Safari, even spending a period of his life working as a DJ in Atlanta. He is always interested in seeing new DJs ply their trade, with the following tips proving useful to those who are trying to do so on a budget.

Buy Second Hand
Having flash new equipment is all well and good, but it may restrict your purchasing options if you are working to a tight budget. Don’t be afraid to speak to other DJs to see if they have any older equipment that they are trying to sell. This will allow you the chance to work more dates, thus building the reputation and earning the money you need to improve your kit over time.

Use Good Music Sources
The likes of Spotify and Soundcloud are going to prove important to any DJs who have little to spend, as they offer you access to a huge variety of music at a low cost. This means that you get to spend less of your budget on building a collection of records, allowing you to funnel your money into buying new kit.

Take Lots of Gigs
While you may see yourself as a specific sort of DJ, Chip Ervin notes that all gigs give you the chance to earn money. Consider all opportunities that come your way and take as many paying gigs as possible.

Chip Ervin - Requirements to Become an Insurance Broker

Chip Ervin has led an interesting life and went down many career paths. Mr. Ervin has been a DJ, as well as a professional poker player, and an insurance broker. Insurance brokers solicit, negotiate, and sell insurance, usually for some kind of percentage commission.

Chip Ervin Insurance brokers are typically used as a way for insurance companies to communicate the finer parts of their service to potential customers. Most insurance brokers are required to obtain a license, though the rules vary from state to state. Typically, in order to obtain a broker’s license, you have to complete some pre-licensing course work, and then successfully pass a standardized exam. Insurance brokers also have to submit an application to the state insurance regulator of the state the broker wishes to operate out of.

The process helps the state determine whether or not the applicant has met all of the legislative requirements. The application usually also entails a background check in order to determine that the individual is trustworthy and competent. Usually, a criminal conviction results in a state denying the application. Some states even require fingerprints from an applicant.

Once an insurance broker does finally become licensed, they usually have to continue taking education courses in order to meet license renewing requirements. Different states have different renewal policies. In California for example, renewals are required every two years. However, once licensed in one state, it is usually far easier to become licensed in another.

Chip Ervin is an insurance broker that had to go down a long road in order to receive his license for the work.

DJ in Public: This one is important because at its core, DJing is a public skill. Becoming truly better at a skill is often simply a matter of doing it over and over. Truly DJing requires an audience, so give yourself as much exposure as you can. DJing in public also has the added benefit of growing your name and brand.

Record Your Mixes: This is a good practice for all DJs. Recording every mix helps you take your practice sessions seriously, and gives you the experience you need to play well in front of an audience. It also allows you to review your performances, seeing where you shined, and where you could use improvements.

Share It: There are millions of ways to share your work online. Don’t be afraid to do it for free. The publicity and advertisement can help you make money in the end.

Chip Ervin became a successful DJ through dedication and lots of self-improvement.
